Based on the 1910 novel by French writer Gaston Leroux, and later adapted to film and stage. The story follows a ghastly and deformed composer, who lives under the Paris Opera House, Sheltered by society in his underground cave, he embraces the deep loneliness that comes with such a life, until he begins to tutor and compose operas for the lovely Christine, a gorgeous young soprano with aspirations of stardom. As Christine’s talents become better known, a handsome suitor from her past enters into her life again; consequently, the Phantom grows angry and terrorizes opera visitors with his visceral ways. Still, inexplicably, Christine feels drawn to his tormented soul.
